What is an Electrical Surge?
A short-term burst of excessive, unwanted energy which if not controlled, can
cause damage to attached electrical equipment.

What are the sources of electrical surges?
Most recognizably lightning, though accidents involving utility equipment,
trees, limbs & animals on power lines and normal utility equipment operation
are often the source. The most common sources are motors and compressors found
in refrigerators, air conditioners and other household equipment, which create
a surge each time they start and stop.

How do electrical surges enter my home?
Through electric, cable and telephone utility lines as well as private
lines such as electronic dog fences, irrigation systems, yard light circuits,
well pump feeds or low voltage lighting systems.

Why should I be concerned about surges?
Today’s homes are filled with electronics and appliances that
contain extremely sensitive microchips, microprocessors and circuitry. Electrical
surges accelerate wear and tear, increasing repair frequency, repair costs and
product failure.

What can I do to protect myself?
High quality plug-in surge protectors, whole house surge protectors
and utility surge protection programs are good choices. They offer physical
and often financial protection; however, protecting every electronic in your
home, from every source of electrical surge can be expensive. That’s why
Surge HELP® makes so much sense. It is a great add-on option to any of these
or a stand-alone solution.

What does Surge HELP® protect?
The expenses associated with the repair/replacement of your home’s
electronics, appliances, and electromechanical equipment (well pumps, air conditioning
etc.) damaged by electrical surges.
Top
Does the program require me to install anything?
No. With Surge HELP®, there is absolutely no equipment to purchase
or install.
Top
Doesn’t my homeowners’
insurance protect against electrical surge damage?
Yes. However, your deductible can often be as much as the repair
and you run the risk of increased premiums or being dropped for multiple claims.
With Surge HELP®, there are no penalities for making claims.

How do I file a claim?
Call us toll free at 1-866-803-0132 and we’ll email, fax or
mail you a claim form. Then, have a licensed repair technician or facility access
the damage and provide you with a repair estimate/invoice. If it is not repairable,
simply obtain a replacement estimate from a local retailer. Attach any estimates,
receipts or invoices to a completed claim form and mail it to the address listed
on the form. You should receive your payment in approximately 30 days.
Top
How do I know you will pay the repair cost?
You can call for pre-approval once you receive an estimate. However,
as long as the claim form is completed in full and accompanied by the proper
documentation, you will receive payment. (see Terms & Conditions for complete
claims process).

How do you determine replacement value?
The typical purchase cost of the most similar product available on the market
today, taking into consideration the make, model and features of the item being
replaced.
Top
What does the program cost?
The first $1,000 of coverage is $2.95 per month. Each additional $1,000
worth of protection is just $2.00 per month up to a program maximum of $5,000
